The life of the oil separator is related to the degree of contamination of the lubricant and the amount of oil, as well as some precipitates of aged oil, airborne contaminants and abrasive particles that can affect the life of the oil separator.
The final differential pressure of the oil separator will also determine its ultimate service life. Due to the increase in solid impurities on the filter medium, the pressure drop of the oil separator is further increased during use, especially when the pores of the first-stage glass fiber are clogged and the pressure drop is increased. In actual use, the final pressure difference of the oil separator used in the air compressor is 0.8 to 1 bar, and the vacuum pump is 0.5 bar. Contaminants accumulated on the oil and gas separator will also increase at higher oil flows, which can be measured by the blowdown flow rate. The amount of blowdown is related to the pre-separation structure design of the air compressor. The optimum value of the amount of sewage is generally about 1 g of oil per cubic meter. Therefore, the service life of the oil separator cannot be measured in terms of time, and only the final pressure difference of the oil separation core is used to determine the life.
